The knowledge we gained while working on the issue of ballast water, in addition to our own research on the ecology of zooplankton, results in an unique assemblage of recordings and results that make the understanding of the issues easier for the public at large. We teamed up with the Alliance for the Great Lakes and explained concepts (for example, by pointing out similarities of life in the ballast tanks to ponds drying out), regulations, and innovative technology through 8 webinars. This collaboration work was part of our project tittled “Continuous Monitoring of Invasisve Speceis in Ballsat Water” funded by The US EPA The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
